In an interview with RMC, Angers sporting director Laurent Boissier confirmed Himad Abdelli’s desire to join OM. But the Marseille club will have to work hard to convince SCO to let go of its attacking midfielder this winter.
With six months left on his contract at Angers, Himad Abdelli wants to leave the club this winter. The Algerian international, who has been approached by Olympique de Marseille, has chosen to move to the south of France, preferring this destination despite interest from Olympique Lyonnais.
Abdelli wants to join OM
In an interview with RMC, Angers sporting director Laurent Boissier confirmed his player’s choice. ‘Himad is wanted by Olympique de Marseille. It’s no secret. (…) He has expressed his desire to join that club. He has told us clearly and precisely,’ said the SCO manager.
The problem is that OM’s initial offers do not meet SCO’s financial expectations. According to the latest reports, the Anjou club is asking for between €4 and €5 million to let its player go, even though he only has six months left on his contract. ‘Unfortunately, things are not moving as quickly as we would like. They are not in a position to do so either,’ said Boissier.
Angers demands respect
The SCO’s sporting director is still leaving the door open for Abdelli to transfer to Marseille this winter: “Can the conditions be met? If they do things right, yes, they will be met. If they don’t, I’ll keep my player. I’ll be very happy too. But I know that his wildest dream is to go there. At some point, certain things have to be respected, as long as it’s not to our detriment.‘ Marseille’s management has been warned: they will have to increase their offer to sign the Fennec in January. ’We will do everything we can to protect the institution, the SCO. We want to be respected. That’s the first thing. And then, of course, if we can contribute to Himad’s happiness, we’ll do so because he deserves it, because he has given a lot to the club. But it must not be to the detriment of SCO Angers,” insisted Boissier. The message has been received.
