Paris Saint-Germain is in talks with Ousmane Dembélé about extending his contract and has made an initial verbal offer to its striker. But the proposal is not enough, and the gap between the two sides remains wide.
After all the individual honours he won last season, Ousmane Dembélé (28) is now waiting for another reward. This time, it will be awarded by Paris Saint-Germain, at least if the two sides manage to find common ground.
The striker, under contract until June 2028, is discussing an extension with his managers, who recently took action. On Friday, RMC reported that PSG had made an initial verbal offer to the Frenchman with two objectives in mind.
Dembélé is reportedly asking for double his current salary.
The capital club, true to its policy, wants to increase Dembélé’s value without disrupting the balance in the dressing room. Clearly, the management has not found the right balance, as the former Barcelona player was not at all convinced by the offer. The Parisian is reportedly demanding an annual salary of around €60 million, while his superiors are offering him half that amount. These figures, revealed by Foot Mercato, seem surprising and have not been confirmed by Loïc Tanzi.
No rush for PSG
For his part, the L’Equipe journalist, who was rather pessimistic during his appearance on the daily newspaper’s channel, simply stated that the two parties are very far from reaching an agreement. The winger-turned-centre forward wants a salary commensurate with his Ballon d’Or status and has therefore rejected PSG’s initial modest offer. It must be said that the club is in no rush. On the contrary, the decision-makers may be better off waiting to see if Dembélé can return to his best form after his physical setbacks. This is an added motivation for the French international.
