Tottenham: after a humiliating night, Kinsky is set to walk out
Following his nightmare night against Atlético Madrid (2-5) in the Champions League, Antonin Kinsky has no intention of staying at Tottenham. The goalkeeper plans to leave next summer.
The night in Madrid could leave its mark. After the hellish experience of Tottenham’s heavy defeat to Atlético Madrid (2-5) on Tuesday in the Champions League, Antonin Kinsky (22) is heading for a departure next summer.
A nightmare in Madrid
Having arrived in January 2025 from Slavia Prague for €16.5 million, Kinsky was seen as a long-term prospect for the Spurs. The club’s plan was clear: to allow him to develop gradually in the shadow of first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, before eventually challenging for the number one spot.
But the situation took a dramatic turn last night. Selected by Igor Tudor despite not having played since October, the Czech goalkeeper endured a nightmare evening in Spain, being substituted after just 17 minutes following two massive blunders. It was a telling incident that has reignited criticism of the London club’s management of the player.
Kinsky has already tried to leave
Before this surprise start in European competition, Kinsky had played just two matches this season, both in the League Cup. With his progress stunted, he had already asked to go out on loan during the last winter transfer window in order to get more playing time, a request that was turned down by the club.
According to The Telegraph, the goalkeeper now intends to renew his request at the end of the season. His aim is clear: to regain consistency and confidence. Tottenham are not expected to stand in his way this time. For Kinsky, the priority will now be to rebuild his career away from the pressure of London, in the hope of relaunching it at the highest level.
