Pushed towards the exit since last summer, Neal Maupay is preparing to leave Olympique de Marseille. The striker, coveted by Paris FC, will leave on loan to FC Sevilla in Spain.
This time, it’s for real for Neal Maupay. Absent from Olympique de Marseille’s plans, the 29-year-old striker is expected to join Sevilla FC in the coming days.
The media outlet Foot Mercato reveals that discussions between the two clubs are at an advanced stage, with the details of a loan deal currently being finalised. It is therefore the La Liga club that has won the day against the Marseille management, who were favouring a permanent transfer.
Paris FC rejected
This proves that OM had to make concessions to get rid of an unwanted player who was difficult to place. Last summer, the Olympique management had already tried to push him out, without success, as Maupay had refused the offers he received. This is why the former Nice player was sidelined until his reinstatement to the squad in November.
It was a false dawn for the unwanted player (three appearances this season in all competitions), who never regained the favour of coach Roberto De Zerbi. Not even after Robinho Vaz’s transfer to AS Roma. With no future at Marseille, the striker, under contract until June 2028, could have relaunched his career at Paris FC. But the newly promoted club apparently received a refusal from Maupay, who is preparing to discover the Spanish league.
