Boosted by his goal for France during the last international break, Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram has regained his form. A key player for the Nerazzurri, the French international is hitting his stride at just the right time.
Before the France squad gathered at the end of March, Inter Milan centre-forward Marcus Thuram went through a real dry spell. Unable to make an impact between 8 February and the international break, the Frenchman used his time with Les Bleus to get back on track.
After a successful performance with a goal and an assist against Colombia (3-1) in a friendly, the former Guingamp player has carried that momentum into his performances with the Nerazzurri.
Thuram in fine form
Following his international break, Thuram confirmed his form in the Serie A clash against AS Roma (5-2), scoring a goal and providing two assists. On Sunday, the 28-year-old striker pulled out all the stops once again, scoring a brace to rescue his team and secure a 4-3 league victory over Como. This resurgence at club level has certainly been fuelled by his renewed effectiveness with France.
“Scoring again for the French national team did me good. I’ve come back with more confidence than when I left. It’s better for Inter,” the Milan centre-forward told DAZN. Decisive in two crucial matches, Thuram has helped Inter pull clear at the top of the table and race towards the title: Cristian Chivu’s men are nine points clear of second-placed Napoli with six games remaining in the 2025–2026 season.
On course for the World Cup
If he continues in this vein and avoids injury, the French international should secure his place at the 2026 World Cup. Whilst he still had the confidence of manager Didier Deschamps despite his dip in form, this good run of form in the final stretch should definitively secure his place in the Les Bleus squad. Will he have a role to play in making a difference coming off the bench?
